Adoption process

An adoption fee of $350 for all dogs is required at the time of adoption. Puppies who are too young to be spayed/neutered are placed with an additional $200 fee.  This fee is refunded to you when when JRTRO receives a copy of the spay/neuter certificate for your dog.

All dogs placed by us have vaccines up to date, spay/neuter, rabies and a general health check.  Should a dog have a medical issue that is diagnosed by our vet it will be treated and disclosed in the adoption process.

JRTRO places dogs in Ontario, Canada and on a few occasions, we’ve placed dogs in other provinces (provided the adoptee is able to come and meet the dog).  If you are in another province, you can find your province’s rescue contact on the JRTCC rescue page or if you are in the United States you can find your state’s rescue contact on the JRTCA rescue page.

If you think a Jack Russell Terrier is right for you, jump start the process by using our application form.

If you don’t feel comfortable filling out our application and have any specific questions about our adoption process, our available dogs or our application, please feel free to contact us at adoptions@russellrescue.org and we will do our best to get back to you within 72 hours.

Please ensure that all adults in the house are agreeable with the adoption of a Jack, that your children respect dogs and are all over the age of eight.
